NEBLA is developing a smart aroma capsule diffuser with every ingredient disclosed. This page outlines the project for business angels and for ENISA.

The problem

People who scent their homes rarely know what they are breathing. Many air fresheners group their fragrance composition under a single generic term, and common formats rely on propellants or water reservoirs.

The solution

A connected diffuser and aroma capsules with a public composition. Each capsule contains a single plant-derived aromatic ingredient (an essential oil or, for vanilla, an extract) and vegetable glycerine, both disclosed by INCI name. No synthetic fragrances, no propellants and no standing water. Blending does not happen inside the capsule: the diffuser combines several capsules into one blend. It also includes a sensor with a pre-trained AI model that detects air quality and unpleasant odours and can trigger diffusion automatically. Scent, intensity and schedule are controlled remotely from the app, which includes a library of downloadable blends designed to open up to hotels, creators and brands.

Business model

Hardware plus a recurring consumable. The diffuser opens the customer relationship; the aroma capsule subscription sustains it.

Diffuser

One-off sale of the device, giving access to the aroma capsule range and the app.

Capsule subscription

Monthly delivery of aroma capsules across plans of different sizes, discounted against single-capsule purchases. It generates recurring revenue.
